A cool breeze after a sweltering day

June is rolling in like a cool breeze after a sweltering day, signaling the end of the academic grind for many. Yep, school’s wrapping up, and you can practically taste the freedom in the air. No more lectures, no more exams—just the sweet promise of summer stretching out before us.

Have a look at a few events and activities in our community and locally:

To celebrate the life of Paul H. Furk, his family and friends are having a barbecue and gathering in remembrance of Paul. Join them at the Stony Brook Hunting Clubhouse on Brook Road in Cochecton/Lake Huntington, NY on Saturday, June 8 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. The clubhouse is a few miles past Paul’s house on Brook Road.

The Lake Huntington Lake Association is holding a raffle with the proceeds going toward the well-being and care of the lake. The drawing will take place on Saturday, July 6. For more information, including where to purchase tickets, visit www.instagram.com/lakehuntingtonny.

Congratulations to Mya Heinle on completing Basic Exterior Firefighting Operations training.

St. Paul’s Lutheran Church is excited to announce that Katie’s Cafe, the community free lunch, is back! All are welcome on the first Saturday of every month from 12 noon to 1 p.m. in the church fellowship hall, located at 31 Erie Ave., Narrowsburg, NY. This beloved tradition has been serving the community for over 10 years, and they’re thrilled to bring it back after a pause due to COVID. For any questions, call the church office at 845/252-3919.

The Zerbini Family Circus is coming to the Delaware Youth Center on Thursday, June 6 at 6 p.m. Advanced ticket purchases are encouraged. You can purchase online at www.delawareyouthcenter.org/zerbini-family-circus or in person at the Delaware Youth Center, Riverside Remedies, Mike Preis Insurance or The Cacklin’ Hen. Doors open 30 minutes prior to showtime. This is a rain-or-shine event.

A car show, sponsored by the Knights of Columbus #4478, will take place on Saturday, June 15 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the St. Francis Xavier parking lot in Narrowsburg, NY. Call Steve Skies to register at 845/252-6681.
