As Mother's Day concluded, we got to celebrate the incredible women who had shaped our lives with their love, wisdom and unwavering support. Whether it was your own mom, a maternal figure or a friend who embodied the spirit of motherhood, this occasion was a heartfelt reminder to express gratitude and shower them with appreciation. I hope you celebrated with those you love.
Have a look at a few events and activities in our community and locally:
2024 Town of Cochecton Clean-up Weekend
Town of Cochecton residents: on May 19, from 9 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. Items can be brought to the Old Town Hall, 116 County Rte. 116, Lake Huntington, NY.
Acceptable items include household junk, bulky waste (furniture, mattresses, carpets, etc.); Iron pipes must be cut to 4-foot lengths; Drums and tanks must be empty and cut open or crushed.; Paint or tar cans must be empty and dry; NO full or partially full cans of paint, NO commercial dumping. NO household garbage, NO yard waste, leaves, stumps, roots, or rocks. NO HAZARDOUS WASTES: petroleum products, pesticides, or propane tanks. NO Computers/monitors, Television sets (all display types). NO Fluorescent Bulbs/Lamps. The Town of Cochecton will be accepting 4 regular car and truck tires at no cost, cost will be $3.00 per tire after the 4th tire. No oversized tires are allowed.
This program is made possible by the Sullivan County Legislature along with the Division of Public Works and Solid Waste and the Town of Cochecton.
Our Lady of the Lake Church, located at 6590 State Route 52 in Lake Huntington, will be holding a Sausage & Pepper Lunch on Saturday, May 25 from 12 noon to 2 p.m. Lunch includes sausage & pepper sandwich, chips, macaroni salad and a brownie. $10 donation, takeout only. The Yarnslingers will be doing a reading on the prompt “Permission” at the Arts Nest on May 19. It begins at 1:30 p.m.
The circus is coming to town!! A performance by the Zerbini Family Circus will be on Thursday, June 6 at 6 p.m. at the Delaware Youth Center. Advance ticket sales are available and encouraged! Presale General Admission - $15 admits ticket holder and one child aged four to 10 at no additional cost. Additional tickets for anyone ages 4 to 10 will only be sold at the door for a cost of $10 per child. Anyone aged 11 and over requires a General Admission ticket for entry. All children aged three and under are always free.
Once advance ticket sales close on Wednesday, June 5, tickets will only be available at the door. Prices increase on the day of the event. In-person ticket sales locations are the Delaware Youth Center, Riverside Remedies, Mike Preis Insurance and Cacklin' Hen. The doors open 30 minutes prior to showtime and the circus grounds open one hour prior to showtime. This is a rain-or-shine event, and tickets are non-refundable.
