We are saddened to announce the passing of Tom (Ebo) Ebers of Eldred, NY, who died on May 17, 2024. He was 58.

He was born on March 27, 1966 in Honesdale PA, the son of Trudy Stegmann and Herbert Ebers, and was a lifelong resident of Eldred.

After graduating from Eldred Central School, Tom went on to work with the Operating Engineers Union as a Custodian Engineer in Bronx, NY, prior to becoming the Town of Highland Highway Superintendent for several terms. After retiring, Tom was not one to sit still; he was always tinkering, fixing or working on something, and he was always ready and willing to help someone in need. He loved watching NASCAR and the NY Knicks, boating on Highland Lake, enjoying his morning coffee with his friends, his cat Franz, and he loved his Budweiser Beer. He was loved by so many and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his mother Trudy S. Miller and stepfather Roger Miller of Inverness, FL; his father Herbert Ebers and wife Judy of Florida, NY; his sister Tammy Ebers-Radtke and husband Nick of Greenwood Lake, NY; his stepmom Janet Conklin of Highland Lake, NY; his stepsiblings Paula and Herman Wyss of Highland Lake, NY; and longtime partner Karen Kreibich-D’Angelo and her children Christian, Alex and Katie of Highland Lake, NY.

There will be a Celebration of Life—we will gather to remember and celebrate the life of Tom in the near future.

Dignified cremation is being provided by the Harris Crematorium, LLC.
