LOCH SHELDRAKE, NY — The family of Erick Alas is organizing a GoFundMe fundraiser to bring his body back to his mother in El Salvador.

The 20-year-old drowned on July 28 at Loch Sheldrake Lake.

Maria Alas posted the following message on GoFundMe.com: “My family and I lost a very special person to us last night. A 20 year old with a bright future ahead. Always had a smile on his face, always laughing. We’re completely devastated with this unexpected loss. After 8 years of his mother not seeing him, her wishes are to see him one last time.  Anything helps and is truly appreciated to honor his memory and say our last goodbyes. Money will cover funeral in United States and El Salvador as well.”
