Government center reopens after bomb threat

MONTICELLO, NY — The Sullivan County Government Center and several other county buildings closed this morning “out of an abundance of caution” in response to an emailed threat to the building.

"The Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office and the State Police have completed their sweep of closed Sullivan County facilities," said a statement from Dan Hust, director of communications at the county manager's office, issued shortly after 1 p.m. "No security issues were found, and all offices are anticipated to open as usual tomorrow, Tuesday, August 6."

Earlier today, a mass notification sent employees working in county buildings home for the day.

The county manager’s office authorized the closure of the social services campus (the Travis Building), the Gladys Olmsted Sullivan County Public Health Services Building, and the community services building.

The notification said the Care Center at Sunset Lake will remain open, and that employees who are out in the field rendering services could continue to do so in coordination with their supervisors.
