HYDE PARK, NY — The Home of Franklin D. Roosevelt National Historic Site and the FDR Presidential Library and Museum will host a series of free public events over Memorial Day weekend, from Saturday, May 25 through Monday, May 27.

On Saturday, May 25 and Sunday, May 26, the Duffle Bag of Patterson, NY, will present a weekend of historic military displays and a World War II encampment on the Roosevelt Library’s front lawn. Reenactors in battle dress will be on hand to share their love of history with the visiting public. Collections of military uniforms, weapons, insignia from 1917 to the present day, and military vehicles will be on display. This public event is free of charge.

A Field of Honor® flag display will be held from Saturday, May 25 through Monday, May 27 at the Home of Franklin D. Roosevelt National Historic Site, in front of the home.

This is the fifth annual Field of Honor® flag display, and it is sponsored by the Hyde Park Education Foundation. Hundreds of American flags will fly in a patriotic display, honoring heroes. Each U.S. flag represents an individual and tells a story. For more information, visit www.hydeparkeducationfoundation.org/field-of-honor. There is no charge to attend.

Regular admission will be charged for the FDR Library and National Park Service historic sites.

For questions, call Cliff Laube at the Roosevelt Library at 845/486-7745 or Allan Dailey, who is with the National Park Service, at 845/229-5320.
