Wayne County’s Dallas Newsom to perform at Atmosfere

SCRANTON, PA — The region’s first hip hop music festival, Atmosfere, will be headlined by Wayne County local Dallas Newsom, and will include other area artists. The festival will be held on Saturday, July 20 at the Ritz Theater; it is set to start at 6 p.m. and will end around midnight.

Anyone attending under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Newsom moved to Wayne County at age eight and says he always had a passion for music. He works with music mentor and NEPA local Kelly Shaun Parker Jr. (also known as Methadonix).

“When I first started music, my whole thing was I wanted my first big show to be a headline in my hometown, and that’s about to happen,” Parker said. He will perform as well.

The genres will mostly span hip-hop and R&B, with a few versatile performers as well. There will also be clothing and food vendors at the event.

The Ritz Theater and Performing Arts Center is located at 222 Wyoming Ave.

Check out the show and buy tickets at www.theritztheater.com/upcoming-events/atmosfere-music-festival. General admission ($25) and pit tickets ($35) are still available.

And watch for a profile of Newsom by Jamie Falgie in the River Reporter on Thursday, July 25.
