HONESDALE, PA — The Wayne County Commissioners, in conjunction with the Office of Military and Veterans Affairs, will celebrate the nation’s most enduring symbol—the American flag, on Wednesday, June 14.
The Flag Day event, which is held on the steps of the County Courthouse, begins at 11:30 am.
The ceremony marks the adoption of the Stars and Stripes in 1777, and includes the singing of the National Anthem. A Color Guard will be provided by an American Legion post, the Pledge of Allegiance will be said, and there will be remarks from Victoria Wargo, director of veterans affairs, and from the County Commissioners.
The event is followed by photo to be taken of the group with flags on the steps of the Courthouse.
The Commissioners encourage all employees and the entire community to join them in this celebration.
