Want to weave or spin?

DAMASCUS, PA — The Woodland Weavers and Spinners Guild (WWSG) will meet at 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 18 at the Damascus Community Center, 60 Conklin Hill Rd.

The spinning group meets first, and a social hour will follow at 10 a.m. The business meeting begins at 11 a.m., then there is a lunch break, and the program starts at 1 p.m.

This month’s program will be on macrame, discussed by Linda Dexter.

WWSG is a teaching guild servicing Sullivan and Wayne counties. Its purpose is to share the knowledge of spinning and weaving all kinds of fiber. Programs teach these skills as well as other types of fiber arts, such as natural dyeing, felting and the care and use of spinning and weaving appliances.

Dues for the guild are $20 for the year; the cost of a family membership is $30. Membership is open to people of all ages and skill levels, for anyone who wants to learn these fiber arts.

The guild has some materials (such as a spinning wheel and several types of weaving looms, as well as other items) available for members to borrow while they learn.

Study groups focus on spinning, weaving and knitting, with those meetings held separately from the general meetings.

Meetings are held on the third Saturday of the month, April through November.

The guild welcomes anyone who wants to learn about fiber arts.
