Tri-Gal 4-H Club tours Willow Wisp Organic Farm

DAMASCUS, PA — On the 24th of June, the Tri-Gal 4-H Club traveled to Willow Wisp Organic Farm in a beautiful location by the Delaware River.

We were taken around the stunning farm by Tannis Kowalchuk, learning the process of organic farm-to-table. We traveled through the greenhouses, seeing all the seeds that will become our food soon.

Ms. Kowalchuk spoke about rotating crops and cover crops, and how they irrigate this large farm.

After the tour, all members received some delicious rhubarb and sunflower plants.

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour and learned an immense amount of information.

While at this location, we also held our June meeting, focusing on upcoming Wayne County Fair preparations for our club. The fair will be held Friday, August 4 through Saturday, August 12.

August 12th is the 4-H & FFA Livestock Sale, which starts at 10 a.m.; opening ceremonies begin at 9:30 a.m.

To become a registered buyer or for additional information on how you can bid on quality meats for your family or business, call the Extension Office at 570/253-5970 ext. 4110.

This is also the number to call to become a 4-H member or to be a trained volunteer.

While you are at the fair, be sure to stop by the 4-H ice cream booth next to the arena in the barn area. This is the largest fundraiser of the year for the Wayne County 4-H Program, and we greatly appreciate your support.

See you at the fair!
