Waymart Horizons 4-H Club has had a busy year

Posted

So far this 4-H year, Waymart Horizons members have been very busy working on projects and taking part in our community. With less than a month to go until the Wayne County Fair, we have been working hard to have a great fair season. However, this has not slowed us down from giving back in any way we can.

Starting back at the beginning of the 4-H year, our club has done many activities in Waymart, PA and Wayne County. We have been especially busy helping at a local nursing home. We started out making turkey treats for the residents during Thanksgiving, then returned with cards and ornaments at Christmas. During the Easter season, we brought handmade Easter cards to hand out to them as well. Each and every time, they were thrilled to see what we had brought them. This was exciting for our club—we could see we were helping to make a positive impact in the community and it was a great experience for our members.

Our club has also made multiple donations this year to different groups. We first donated to a local family that was in a time of need, and then we donated water to the Waymart Fire Department during our meeting. This allowed members to learn some information about what our fire departments do through a demonstration from fellow club members who are also a part of the fire department.

Finally, we gave toy donations to the Waymart Police Department and food donations to the Knights Of Columbus Council #7403.

A very particularly fun event our members participated in recently was the Pride and Patriotism Parade in Waymart. Our members were able to ride on a float displaying the 4-H colors and spread the message of 4-H. Our club had a great time and looks forward to doing this event next year.

Under the guidance of our leaders, we have been having a great year. Our club has taken part in very enjoyable events and completed meaningful projects in our community. We hope to finish out this 4-H year successfully for all our members and have a great time at the fair.
