It’s hard to believe the first week of June has arrived and we are in the final countdown to the end of the school year. We are looking forward to soaking up all that there is to offer in our community during the summertime.

The Lake Huntington Presbyterian Church Sunday School set up a mission project to collect loose change. It has raised $130, which was donated to the Presbyterian Giving Catalog. With the help of church members and the Sunday School children, they received enough money to buy two flocks of chickens and two baby piglets to help families in need overseas. Well done, and a great job to all involved.

Here are a few upcoming local events that are happening in our community and nearby towns.

The ninth annual car show at Hector’s Inn takes place on Saturday, July 29 at 12 noon. All vehicles are welcome. If it has wheels, bring it on in! There’s no judging of cars and no entry fee. Just people with the same interests as you—there to share their cars and stories. No car? No worries. Stop by 14 Dr. Duggan Rd. in Bethel, NY to check out the vehicles and vendors; listen to the music. Food will be available. Admission is free.

On Saturday, June 10, it’s the grand opening at Body and Soul Studio, 5077 Route 52 in Jeffersonville, NY. Enjoy a free dance class, networking and good food from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., and check out the studio for wellness events and rentals.

The 17th annual Livingston Manor Trout Parade is on Saturday, June 10. This year’s event, “Once Upon a Trout,” features music, food specials and more on Main Street starting at 11 a.m., and the parade kick-off is at 1 p.m.

The 27th annual Tractor Parade is on Sunday, June 11 in Callicoon. The parade begins at 12 noon. Come enjoy the fun and make sure to stop down at the Delaware Youth Center for a yummy barbecue and snacks after the parade. Don’t miss getting a collectible Tractor Parade T-shirt before they run out. You’ll find them on sale in town and at the center. You’ll also find River Run Raffle tickets for sale. There are lots of great prizes, so get your tickets soon.

Season passes for Lake Superior State Park are on sale through Friday, June 30 for Sullivan County residents. Get your passes today for a full season of fun.
