The Great Wall of Honesdale premieres with ‘People’s Choice’ contest

HONESDALE, PA — A contest where the public can vote for their favorite panel will follow the revealing of the 2021 Great Wall of Honesdale at the end of May. The winning artwork will become a T-shirt that will be available for purchase.

For the 2021 edition of The Great Wall of Honesdale, 12 works were chosen from a field of 327 entries expressing this year’s theme of “Saturated (as in color).” The 12 winning artists are Mark Ciocca, Maxine Davidowitz, Lauren Floden, Janet Gaglione, Edna Gonzalez-Rothenberg, Lauren Kuhn, Amanda Miehle, Mark Partridge, Lou Patrou, Johnny Robinson, Robert Stark and the artist known as /// V.

Voting for “The People’s Choice” will begin on Tuesday, June 1 and end at 12 midnight on Saturday, July 10. Each contribution of $1 will allow one vote and there will be no limit on the number of votes each person can cast.

The Hawley Hub main floor to open with Family Farms Northeast

HAWLEY, PA — The Hawley Hub features Family Farms Northeast as an anchor tenant to open on Memorial Day weekend. This local business provides local produce, meats and pre-made meals from small family farms in the region and will be opening its cafe, coffee shop and subscription pick-up location at The Hawley Hub.  The new retail space is located within the Hawley Hub building, located at 318 Main Ave. in downtown Hawley at the historic Murray Building.

The Hawley Hub celebrates its ground-floor opening on Saturday, May 29 with talks given by Family Farms Northeast on local and regenerative agriculture at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., a book sale in partnership with The Hawley Library and informative displays and tours around The Hawley Hub. Family Farms Northeast will also be smoking brisket and burgers on site.

Rock the ‘burg!

NARROWSBURG, NY — Fridays on Main is reinstated for the summertime. On Friday, May 28, from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m., Narrowsburg’s Main Street will be open late. There will be tarot readings at Mayer Wasner and massages outside the Chi Hive. There will be outdoor dining and live music on the balcony of the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance, the Narrowsburg Union and at the Laundrette.

Bethel Woods is a 2021 Blue Star Museum

BETHEL, NY — The Museum at Bethel Woods is proud to be a participant in this year’s Blue Star Museums initiative, which provides free admission to the nation’s active-duty military personnel and their families. The 2021 program began on Armed Forces Day, May 15 and will end on Labor Day, Monday, September 6.

The museum is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Blue Star Museums is an initiative of the National Endowment for the Arts in collaboration with Blue Star Families, the Department of Defense and participating museums nationwide.

Blue Star Museums include children’s museums, art, science and history museums; zoos; gardens; lighthouses; and more. The current list of participating institutions will continue to develop over the summer as organizations are welcome to register throughout the summer.

Located at the historic site of the 1969 Woodstock festival, The Museum at Bethel Woods explores the social, political, cultural, and musical transformations of the 1960s while drawing connections to the issues that continue to affect the world today.
