HIGHLAND LAKE, NY — At 7:30 p.m. on Friday, July 19, Larval Mask Collective will present the play “Refuge” at the North American Cultural Laboratory (NACL).
This is the completed version of a new play, and it was developed at NACL while the collective was in residence last year.
“Refuge” is wordless and has original sound design; it’s the story of a father and daughter fleeing their homeland, experiencing bureaucratic labyrinths. The play highlights the larger political, social and environmental forces that cause people to move.
The characters’ masks evoke the intimacy of individual experience without settling on a specific person, time or place. There is no where or when.
The presentation will be followed by light refreshments and conversation.
NACL is located at 110 Highland Lake Rd.
Tickets cost $25.
Learn more and purchase tickets at nacl.org. For questions, call 845/557-0694.
