Summer camp gets $25K

MONTICELLO, NY — Rutberg Breslow Personal Injury Law in Poughkeepsie, NY, recently raised $25,000 to send children in need to summer camp.

These proceeds, from a golf-and-gamble overnight fundraiser, will benefit a cause chosen by Sullivan County Sheriff Mike Schiff: the NYS Sheriffs’ Institute summer camp at Keuka Lake in Yates County. It serves boys and girls ages nine to 12 who might not otherwise have the opportunity to attend summer camp because of economic reasons. The campers are unaware that their chaperones are law enforcement officers until the last day, when the officers appear in their police uniforms, “providing an eye-opening experience.”

Schiff said the donation will help cover ongoing improvements that will enhance the campers’ experience.

The first annual golf and gamble tournament was held at the Monster Golf Course in Monticello and included an overnight stay at Resorts World Catskills.
