Spring has sprung at the Milford Garden Club

MILFORD, PA — There is no more certain sign that spring has sprung than the Milford Garden Club’s Perennial Plant Sale.

The event is scheduled for Saturday, May 18 beginning at 9 a.m., and lasts until 12 noon or when all plants are sold. It takes place at St. Patrick’s Church Hall, located at 200 High St.

Seasoned members of the club spend time in the late fall and early spring dividing up their most prized plants to share with the public. Some of the past featured offerings include anemones, daisies, delphinium, hosta and herbs.

One hundred percent of the proceeds supports the beautification program in Milford Borough. Over 20 large urns line Harford and Board Streets, giving beauty, color and joy. Visitors from the tri-state area and beyond consistently mention how attractive the town is during the spring, summer and autumn.

“This is an occasion that brings great satisfaction to our members,” said Vicki Callahan, chair of the plant sale. “Not only do they get to exchange their favorite varieties of flowers, they get to the satisfaction that this beauty will be shared by others.”

Now in its 87th year, the Milford Garden Club was started by prominent and progressive women of Milford such as Cornelia Pinchot and Ethyl Barckley. Members currently meet on the second Tuesday of each month at St. Patrick’s Church Hall.
