MIDDLETOWN, NY — Pets Alive, a no-kill rescue organization, has been awarded a $500,000 grant through the New York State Companion Animal Capital Fund.
The grant will aid the construction of its new community resource and adoption center.
The center will serve as a multifunctional hub for animal rescue, adoption, education and community engagement.
With the grant, Pets Alive will enhance existing programs and launch new initiatives aimed at promoting responsible pet ownership. It will also address animal welfare issues in the Hudson Valley.
“We are incredibly grateful to the New York State government for their generous support,” said Sarah Wees, executive director of Pets Alive. “This grant will allow us to create a modern, welcoming space where animals in need can find loving homes and where community members can access valuable resources and educational opportunities.”
The new center will feature state-of-the-art facilities for animal housing and adoption, the organization said, as well as a community room for educational workshops, training seminars and volunteer activities.
Through partnerships with local businesses, schools and organizations, Pets Alive stated that it aims to foster a culture of compassion and responsibility toward animals while building a stronger, more connected community.
Construction of the Community Resource and Adoption Center is slated to be completed this winter.
Pets Alive is holding a capital campaign to complete the project.
Pets Alive is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charity located at 363 Derby Rd. For more information, visit petsalive.org and follow them at www.facebook.com/PetsAlive.
