HURLEYVILLE, NY — “Imitation of Life: Musical Treasures from the Silver Screen” is a performance and concert of music from vintage films, performed live with imagery and with stories from the movies themselves.
It takes place at 8 p.m. on Friday, August 5 and Saturday, August 6 at the HPAC Cinema.
Join David Driver and a seven-piece mini-orchestra on a journey through some of the best songs and movies of the 20th century.
Some of the movies spotlighted include “High Noon,” “Alfie,” “Black Orpheus,” “Charade,” “Night of the Hunter” and “Imitation of Life.”
In a show designed for the HPAC Cinema’s movie screen, Driver and his colleagues create a hybrid musical and visual experience intended to be both informative and emotionally engaging.
There will be special guest performances by Bold Gold Media DJ Adam Owens; actress/singer Maggie Moore; New York City-based singer/songwriter Julia Joseph and Sullivan County singer AJ Lumalcari.
Doors open at 7 p.m., and beverages are available for purchase prior to curtain.
The HPAC Cinema is located at 219 Main St. Parking is available in two municipal lots on Main Street and Railroad Avenue.
