MILFORD, PA — The Delaware Valley Dance Company will perform the full-length classical ballet “La Bayadère” on Sunday, May 19 at 1 p.m. at the Delaware Valley High School auditorium, 256 Rte. 6.
Set to music by Ludwig Minkus, “La Bayadère” takes place in India during its royal era. It tells the story of the bayadère (temple dancer) Nikiya and the warrior Solor. With a cast of students from The Dance Center in Sparrow Bush, NY and adult community members, the performance features colorful costumes, enchanting music, and classical ballet choreography.
The role of Nikiya will be danced by Kamryn O’Brien, a junior at Port Jervis High School. Solor will be danced by Minisink Valley High School graduate Tyler Powley. The supporting lead role of Gamzatti will be danced by Bella Theodore, a junior at Port Jervis High School.
This performance can be enjoyed by the whole family.
Tickets cost $15 for adults and $10 for children and seniors, and will be available at the door.
