We are inching our way closer to Halloween, and I for one cannot believe we are closing in on the winter months already. The leaves have been so beautiful to watch as they turn colors, and the Sullivan Catskills is definitely one of the best places to view these seasonal changes.

By the time you read this in the paper, a capital project vote for the Sullivan West Central School District will have taken place on October 19. If you’re reading this earlier online, you can vote between 12 noon and 9 p.m. at the three polling locations in Jeffersonville, Narrowsburg and Callicoon. For more details on what is included in this proposed capital project, consult the school website at www.swcsd.org.

The Cochecton Youth Group is still looking for volunteers in our community who would like to decorate a trunk and hand out treats during their fall event on Saturday, October 29 at 11 a.m. The event is open to children who live in the Town of Cochecton and who have pre-registered; however, you do not need to have children participating to hand out goodies. If you are interested in helping to make the event successful, and would love to see Cochecton youth dressed up in their Halloween costumes, call Heather Neidert at 845/796-6976 or email her at heatherneidert@me.com.

On Saturday, November 5, the Beach Lake Fire Department will hold an EMS training day from 8 a.m. to 5 a.m. See the Cochecton Volunteer Ambulance Corps Facebook page for more information.
