HONESDALE, PA — Even though it’s still February, the beautiful weather this week has everyone’s sights set on the warmer months, including the Honesdale Borough Council.
The main focus of their February 26 meeting was approving the use of Central Park Honesdale for a lineup of spring and summer events. The council approved all requests for the various park events planned from March to August:
Nothing screams “springtime fun” more than an old-fashioned Easter egg hunt. The council approved two separate hunts in March. The first will be hosted by the Thrive Church from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 23. Crosspoint Bible will hold its hunt from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, March 30.
The Wayne County Creative Arts Council will host their series of concerts in the park from June 10 through July 25. There will be a total of 13 concerts, with the exact dates and artists for each show to be announced. Refreshments will be available at each show.
For most people, summer and relaxation are synonymous. But others have to work a little harder to relax. What better way to relax than doing yoga surrounded by nature? Starting June 11, Get Flexy LLC will be hosting Yoga in the Park every Tuesday (excluding July 2) from 6 to 7 p.m. The last yoga session will be held on Tuesday, August 6.
Since 2006, the Roots and Rhythm music festival has been a summer staple in Honesdale and the surrounding communities. This year the live music festival will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 15. There will be food vendors and, for the 21+ crowd, beer and wine. The lineup is still TBA. The festival is free and open to the public.
The Wayne County Creative Arts Council will again hold its Independence Day celebration at the park. It’s set for Monday, July 1, with a rain date of July 2.
Although summer may seem far away, it’s a good idea to mark your calendars now.
