BEACH LAKE, PA — Landscape architect Craig Bachik presented a preliminary land development plan for a new Wayne County transportation facility.
He brought his plan to the July 16 meeting of the Berlin Township Board of Supervisors, presided by Charles Gries, Cathy Hunt, and Tony Franklin.
The facility will be constructed near the recycling center on Volunteer Drive in Honesdale, PA. As proposed, it will provide a central location for the 37 buses belonging to Wayne County.
Included will be a bus wash, which is especially important for rinsing off road salts in winter, along with a large parking garage, offices, and parking for staff and visitors.
Funds for the $11 million project will come from both state and federal sources. It is targeted to be open for bids in late summer, with construction to begin this fall or next spring.
The Berlin supervisors will vote on the project contingent upon approval by the town engineer.
