Farm Arts is building anew

DAMASCUS, PA — All are invited to a ribbon-cutting event by Farm Arts Collective (FAC) at the new barn and Agri-Cultural Center on Willow Wisp Organic Farm from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 2.

After the official ribbon-cutting, a land acknowledgement blessing will be shared from the Lenape Nation of Pennsylvania.

Visitors can tour the new barn, meet staff from Jeffrey McMahon Design and Build, and hear from FAC artistic director Tannis Kowalchuk about the collective’s vision to build out a contemporary agri-cultural center and the launch of a capital campaign.

The event will include entertainment by FAC and Beat the Devil, as well as video and art installations documenting the building process. If you’re hungry, you’ll find rhubarb pie, soup and refreshments—with contributions from Here and Now Brew Company, Willow Wisp Organic Farm and Beach Lake Bakery.

The agri-cultural center will provide year-round programming in a flexible education and theatre venue, with modern ADA-compliant bathrooms, and offices designed to give FAC a permanent home for programs in farming, art, food and ecology.

For five years, FAC operated out of a plastic greenhouse on the farm. “This was the perfect place to affordably incubate Farm Arts Collective, but the organization has matured to the point that it needs a permanent space to provide an inviting environment for learning, agriculture and the arts,” the FAC website notes.

Farm Arts Collective is located at 38 Hickory Ln.
