MIDDLETOWN, NY — Cornell Cooperative Extension of Orange and Sullivan counties (CCE) will hold a variety of parenting workshops this fall. Some of these programs are in-person, while the majority are taking place online.
On Wednesday, October 4, 11, 18 and 25, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., join “Unpacking the Teen Years.” During this positive and supportive approach to the teen years, a CCE spokesperson stated, there will be a discussion about changes in a teen, the parent’s role, communication strategies and tools and more. The cost for this event is $25 per family.
On Wednesday, October 4, 11, 18 and 25, from 5:45 p.m. to 8:45 p.m., “Strengthening Families” will be held for families and youth aged 10 to 14. This is an in-person program in which parents/caregivers attend with their youths for a seven-session series. This program includes a family meal and interactive activities for adults and youth in the series. Child care is provided for siblings aged three to nine. There is no cost for this event.
On Thursday, October 5, 12, 19 and 26, from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., join “Discipline is NOT a Dirty Word.” This six-session series is filled with resources about child development, parental coaching, and powerful parenting tools that support caregivers on their parenting journey. Multiple topics are covered. The cost for the event is $40 per family.
