Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) information session

ONLINE ― The Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) program of Pike County will hold an information session on Thursday, January 12, at 6 p.m. via Zoom, for individuals interested in becoming a fully trained Court Appointed Special Advocate for children.

CASA, a nonprofit organization, aims to connect children being served by dependency courts with volunteer advocates who collect pertinent information about a child’s case to help the court act in the best interest of the child.

CASA of Pike County, established in January 2022, now has 16 fully trained and active volunteer advocates who serve 76 percent of the children involved in the dependency court system.

“We are very proud of all we were able to accomplish in the first year of the program,” said program director Dawn Allison. “Our goal for 2023 is to be able to serve 100 percent of the children.”

To register for the free online information session, email dmallison@pikepa.org or call 570/296-9827.
