CAMPBELL HALL, NY — The O&W Railway Historical Society invites everyone to attend its 60th anniversary banquet and convention at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 30 at the Otterkill Country Club.
The theme for this year’s event is The O&W in the Catskills. The event will include talks by five distinguished speakers, illustrating some of the reasons why the Catskill Region was so important to the O&W.
Highlighting the event will be Sullivan County Historian John Conway, with a lecture titled “Doctors Say, Go to the Mountains!” Conway will discuss how the railroad and the region’s reputation as a healing environment created tourism in the Sullivan County Catskills.
Other speakers include Maurice Gerry on “1930 Ferndale Memories,” Martin Leroy about “Growing Up with the O&W,” Mal Houck on “NYO&W Passenger Traffic to the Vacation Hotels” and Jeff Otto will speak about “Planes, Trains and… Creosote.”
The club is located at 100 Otter Rd.
The cost is $57 for the dinner and $20 for the program only.
To register, call 845/428-3111 or 845/794-3772, or visit nyow.org.
