TOWN OF THOMPSON, NY — The Town of Thompson is seeking artist submissions to become the “welcome banners” on light poles at the newly configured Interchange 105 – NYS Route 42 corridor in the Town of Thompson. But the submission deadline is Monday, July 1.

This is an opportunity to immortalize your artwork along this busy corridor that serves as the gateway between the Village of Monticello and the Town of Thompson.

There will be 37 banners in all. Each selected artist’s piece will appear on both sides of a single banner.

Banners will also be placed along the East Broadway Gateway from Exit 106 by duplicating the selected artists.

Artists of all ages are welcome and must be either a students in the Monticello Central School District or town residents. While there is no theme for the artwork, it should be appropriate and free of offending symbolism or messages.

The town suggests that artists submit works of art that are identifiable from a distance, because the banners will hang about 10 feet above the ground and will be seen mostly by passersby on bicycles and cars. Works can be representational  or abstract.
