Blaum is next superintendent at Delaware Valley

MILFORD, PA — Delaware Valley School District (DVSD) announced at the December 20 school board meeting that Dr. Brian Blaum is the district’s next superintendent.

The board partnered with experts from the Pennsylvania School Boards Association (PSBA), beginning in September 2022, to conduct an extensive search. The board and the PSBA conducted two rounds of interviews with five candidates, including a round with stakeholders from the district, before ultimately selecting Blaum from two finalists.

“Dr. Blaum was selected for his strong educational and personal leadership qualities. He possesses the right mix of confidence in his knowledge of subjects, from curriculum to finance, that he will deal with as superintendent. Yet he remains a very humble person willing to listen and adapt,” said Delaware Valley board president Jack Fisher. “He will bring a vitality of both youthfulness and the experience that comes from a 20-year Delaware Valley history to the role of superintendent. We believe he will be a role model for our students and for our community. He will make an excellent tenth man on our Team of Ten school board members.”

Blaum began his career as a social studies teacher at Delaware Valley Middle School in 2004. Two years later, he moved to the high school, where he worked on the expansion of the Advanced Placement program.  After his time teaching AP courses, Blaum studied school administration, and throughout his administrative career, he served in a multitude of positions, including almost a decade as high school principal. In his most current role, he serves as the director of secondary education, working with all students in grades six through 12.

Blaum received his doctorate in human development from Marywood University in August 2016. Prior to that, he received his master’s degree in educational leadership from Wilkes University and his bachelor’s degree  in comprehensive social sciences and secondary education from Marywood University.
