It’s hard to believe we are in the middle of October, with Halloween just around the corner. It is just about time to put the garden to bed for the winter and plan for next year!
We hope everyone participated in some of the Homecoming festivities last week too.
There are numerous events happening in and around town, mark your calendars for the following events.
Lakeview Pizza & Bar in Lake Huntington, NY, will host its annual Halloween Costume Bash on Saturday, October 28, starting at 8 p.m. There will be music, food, keg beer and fun. A $25 cover charge includes food and keg beer. For more info, call Chris or Christiane at 845/932-8131.
Art Nest invites artists to participate in its 2023 Catskill Artisans Show, a celebration of high craft and creativity during the festive season. They are seeking talented artisans working in 2D and 3D mediums to showcase their work. This show is dedicated to high-craft items that are not only impeccably designed but also priced to sell.
The exhibition will last through the holiday season.
Important dates:
Notification of selection: November 3
Artwork drop-off: November 6
Opening reception: November 18
Exhibition ends: January 2024
Submission guidelines:
Artists are invited to submit up to six pieces for consideration.
All submitted artwork must align with the artisan, fine art and folk art themes (see below)
Pieces should be high quality, finely crafted and priced to sell.
2D artwork must be ready to hang; 3D artwork must be stable for display on tables.
How to apply:
The deadline for submissions is Wednesday, November 1.
Submission fee: FREE
Submission requirements: Please send a brief artist bio, high-resolution images of your artwork and prices.
Art Nest is committed to supporting artists and providing them with a platform to showcase and sell their work. We encourage artists from all backgrounds and styles to submit their creations and be part of this vibrant holiday exhibition.

Be sure to mark your calendars that there will be a penny social at the Lake Huntington Presbyterian Church on Saturday, October 21. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. and calling starts at 12:30 p.m. Hot dogs, sauerkraut, beverages and potato chips will be available for purchase. Cake and coffee will be served after the calling. It’s sponsored by the Lake Huntington Ladies Aid Society.
