DAMASCUS, PA — Got ticks? They’re everywhere. Learn more about them at “The Tiny Mighty Tick,” an educational workshop to be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 20 at the Damascus Manor Community Center (DMCC).

This is the first of a series of public health programs offered by the center.

“The Tiny Mighty Tick” will provide extensive and vital information about ticks and tick-borne diseases.

Attendees will learn about common tick-borne diseases, signs and symptoms, tick bite prevention, tick removal and some treatment options.

The presenters will be Carol Kneier of Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers and representatives from the Wayne County Tick Task Force (WCTTF).

Free educational materials will be available for attendees. It will be followed by a question and answer period. Participants are welcome to share their accounts of their experiences with tick-borne illnesses.

“As a community center, we hope to reach out to our citizens in many areas, one especially is health,” said Linda Dexter, DMCC president. “The opportunity to learn about the ticks where we live, play and work is invaluable. We are privileged to have this program led by experts from the Wayne County Tick Task Force.”

Damascus Manor Community Center welcomes all people from the region to be part of its programs. Light refreshments will be served. Participants will have a chance to win a gift basket of items useful in preventing tick bites.

The Damascus Manor Community Center is located at 60 Conklin Rd.
