Wayne County Fair wrap-up for 4-H and FFA

HONESDALE, PA — The 2023 Wayne County Fair has come and gone, but the memories will last forever.

Held August 4-12 in Honesdale, PA, the fair offered food, rides, music, grandstand events and our favorites—4-H non-livestock projects on display, made by members and clubs, and the 4-H/FFA livestock shows and auction.

We asked some Wayne County 4-H members, “What will you remember most about this year’s fair?”

Eilie of Pleasant Mount Go-Getters said, “This was my last fair as a member of the 4-H program, so I made sure to make the most of every day. I will remember all of the great fun and laughs had with my friends and family.”

“My favorite memory was helping in the ice cream booth and winning with my cow, Brownie,” said Henry from Tri-Gal.

“Getting a headbutt from my feeder steer Brownie,” said Landon of Pleasant Mount Go-Getters.

Emma of Tri-Gal said, “I will remember all the memories I made with my friends and family, as it was my last year.”

“Being awarded the Grand Champion Showman for the Dairy Show and being able to compete in the Ultimate Showman Contest!” said Cora of Tri-Gal.

“Being in the final for showmanship with my lambs and dairy cow,” said Andrew of Tri-Gal.

Many of the members will remember how their projects placed in the highest honors, as well as how they were honored for showmanship skills.

Congratulations to Wayne County 4-H/FFA members and clubs!

4-H offers something for all

The motto for 4-H is “Learn by Doing.”

All members—whether they walked away with top honors or took pride in giving it their best and completing their projects—are true examples of what this motto really means.

With the large variety of projects to choose from, there is something for everyone to explore.
