A holiday toy drive, free school meals and more

Hard to believe we are halfway through November already; this year sure has been going by fast. We are in full swing preparing for Thanksgiving, and the holidays are right around the corner.

Be sure to take some time to reflect on what is important and where you will spend your time this season.

For some, this can be a very overwhelming time of year. Give yourself the grace to say “No” to the things that don’t serve you well. You really do not have to do and go to everything that is offered your way. It will be OK.

There are numerous events happening in and around town. Mark your calendars for the following events.

The Sullivan West School KC Club is conducting a holiday toy drive for the children of the Sullivan West School District. The toy drive provides gifts for children in families that need help this holiday season.

If you would like to donate gifts, bring them to the donation box—it’s located in the elementary lobby—or to the Sullivan West High School by or before Monday, December 11.

If you or someone you know can benefit from this toy drive reach out to Tara Brey at 845/482-4610 ext: 2259 or Breytar@swcsd.org

In case you missed the announcement, all students enrolled at Sullivan West CSD  can receive a FREE breakfast and lunch meal at school. It began on November 2.

This is a result of the expansion of access to the United States Department of Agriculture Community Eligibility Provision (CEP). CEP allows eligible schools participating in the national school lunch and school breakfast programs to offer school meals at no charge to all students.

What does this mean for your child(ren)? Effective November 2, all students enrolled at Sullivan West CSD will receive meals at no cost to your household. No further action is required of you.

If you have any further questions, call Dara Smith, food service director, at 845/482-4610 ext. 2125.

Stop by Annie’s Ruff Cut, located at 90 Forman Rd. in Cochecton, NY, on those days when you don’t feel like cooking or want to meet up with some friends. The restaurant always has great specials, good food and wonderful service.

If you have a local business that you would like to have spotlighted in an upcoming column, get in touch. Email jenn@jennpowelldesigns.com with any news, events and happenings.
