A 4-H livestock auction, a penny social and more

Happy Fourth of July! I hope you had a great weekend celebrating with family and friends during the official kickoff to summer. I’m looking forward to a little more sun in the Sullivan Catskills, but the wet weather is making my garden happy.

I am pleased to announce that there will be a 4-H Youth Agriculture Product and Livestock Auction at the Grahamsville Little World’s Fair on Sunday, August 20. Viewing starts at 12 noon and auction bidding begins at 1 p.m. Support our local 4-H youth (my daughter included!) as they auction off the results of the hard work they have been doing all season. You’ll find sweet corn, raw honey, herbs, pies, eggs, canned goods, flowers, livestock and so much more.

Come join us and bid on the items the Sullivan County 4H youth have to offer. All proceeds raised are split between the youth and the 4H auction scholarship fund. Call 845/292-61800 ext. 109 for more information.

There are many activities that are happening in and about our community in the upcoming weeks. Have a look at a few below.

The Jeffersonville Presbyterian Church will hold a penny social on Saturday, July 29. Doors open at 10:30 a.m. and calling begins at 12:30 p.m. Admission costs $1 and includes a drink and dessert. Refreshments will be available for purchase. Call 570/903-7079 with any questions.

The Hector’s Inn Ninth Annual Car Show takes place on Saturday, July 29 at 12 noon. All vehicles are welcome. If it has wheels, bring it on in. There’s no judging of cars and no entry fee. It’s just people with the same interests as you, here to share their cars and stories.

No car? No worries. Stop by to check out the vehicles and vendors and listen to the music. Food will be available. Admission is free.

If you have a local business that you would like to have spotlighted in an upcoming column, get in touch. Email jenn@jennpowelldesigns.com with any news, events and happenings.
