Rifle and pistol clinic for women and girls

GREELEY, PA — Jackie Emslie, an NRA certified firearms instructor, will hold a rifle and pistol clinic for women and girls aged 12 and up at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 12 at Tommy Gun Warehouse.

It’s a chance to learn about firearm safety and marksmanship in a safe, fun, non-competitive atmosphere, organizers said.

The clinic is sponsored by the Veterans Sportsmens Association and Tommy Gun Warehouse. Women of all ages are invited to participate, regardless of skill level or experience.

Minimum age to shoot rifles is 12 and 18 to shoot handguns, and participants under age 18 must attend with an adult.

Tommy Gun Warehouse is located at 105 Kahr Ave.

Grahamsville Rod & Gun Club Swap Meet

GRAHAMSVILLE, NY — A Sportsman’s Swap Meet will be held on Saturday, September 16 at the Richard Strangeway Agricultural Building; vendors are wanted.

Vendors will have all kinds of sporting equipment and weapons, along with offering knife sharpening services.

Civil War reenactment

HAWLEY, PA — Civil War reenactors from across the tri-state area will gather at Lockhouse 16 on the Lackawaxen River on Saturday and Sunday, August 12 and 13, for a weekend of learning about the lives of soldiers and civilians during the Civil War.

Hours for the public are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday. Battle demonstrations will take place at 2 p.m. on both days, and living history presentations start at 10 a.m.

Admission costs $10 (cash only). Cold drinks, burgers and hot dogs will be available from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. each day (cash only).

The event, which is co-sponsored by the Pike County Historical Society and the 142nd Pennsylvania Volunteers, will include demonstrations on drill, loading and firing infantry and artillery weapons, skirmish tactics and camp life. Medical innovations during the war will also be presented.

The event takes place at 495 Towpath Rd.
