LONG EDDY, NY — Julia Greenberg, singer-songwriter, and Dory Previn, interpreter, will lead a quartet that will quietly rock the old wooden walls of the Rock Valley Schoolhouse on Sunday, July 16 at 4 p.m.

The group includes Tricia Scotti on vocals and guitar, Jeremy Chatzky on Bass and Will Holshouser on the accordion.

A donation of $10 is requested.

The schoolhouse is located at 9178 County Hwy. 28.

‘Homecoming’ launches the Weekend of Chamber Music

LIVINGSTON MANOR, NY — The Weekend of Chamber Music’s 30th season begins on Thursday, July 20 at 7:30 p.m. with an evening of duos and trios at the Catskill Art Space. 

The performance features “the shimmer and mystery of the cimbalom, the hammered dulcimer of Eastern Europe,” a spokesperson wrote.

And there’s more to come at other locations in Sullivan County.

The Catskill Art Space is located at 48 Main Street in Livingston Manor.

It’s SNACKTIME at the Cooperage

HONESDALE, PA — On Friday, July 21 at 7 p.m., the Cooperage Project will host Philadelphia-based seven-piece brass-heavy band SNACKTIME.

The band was created out of necessity at the height of COVID, and has become a symbol of positivity and cathartic release, showcasing the richness of Philadelphia’s music community, a Cooperage spokesperson said.

Tickets cost $20 in advance or $25 at the door, and can be purchased at thecooperageproject.org.

Hal Galper to play Rafter’s Tavern

CALLICOON, NY — Hal Galper will play funk, blues and jazz with his sextet once again at Rafter’s Tavern on Saturday, July 15 at 7 p.m.

His group includes Brewster Smith on drums, Mario Pietra on bass, Matt Hoffman on the vibraphone, Justin Padro on the congas and Shawn Caden on guitar.

Well known as a jazz pianist, Galper has played in the bands of Chet Baker, Cannonball Adderly and many other musicians. He is also a founding member of New York’s New School of Jazz and Contemporary Music and recently retired from his 14-year tenure at Purchase Conservatory.

Balourdet Quartet plays the classics

MILFORD, PA — The Balourdet Quartet will perform Saturday, July 15 at 5:30 p.m. at Grey Towers National Historic Site. The concert will be held under an open-air canopy at the site’s pool pavilion.

The quartet will perform classical masterpieces, including Beethoven’s 1826 Grosse Fugue, Op. 133. The program will also include Felix Mendelssohn’s 1837 string quartet.

Balourdet performs in concerts and in festivals all over the United States.

Grey Towers is located at 151 Grey Towers Drive.
