Walk and read

CALLICOON, NY — Until Friday, February 23, Lower Main Street will feature the annual StoryWalk, courtesy of the Western Sullivan Public Library’s Delaware Free Branch.

This year, given the total eclipse taking place in April, the library has chosen the children’s book “Eclipse” by Andy Rash for all to “read and walk through.”

The self-paced walk will begin at the Delaware Free Branch, located at 45 Lower Main St., and then launches into a scavenger hunt to find each page in a different shop window throughout the hamlet of Callicoon.

A story walk is a “way to read a book together as a family while also enjoying the town,” the library said.

The program is completely outdoors, so library staff requests that participants dress for the weather.

The branch will end the month with a StoryWalk Storytime at 10:15 a.m. on February 23—a walk for kids aged three through five (but all are welcome). They’ll walk through town with Miss Kristen and make their way through the book.

Meet at the Delaware Free Library’s front desk.
