Hurleyville
2 p.m.—Service at Morningside Park on County Rte. 52 (Brickman Road). All are invited.
Monticello
10 a.m.—Countywide ceremony to be held in the lobby of the Sullivan County Government Center. State police and Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard will be in attendance. The public is invited.
Bethel
11 a.m.—Sgt. Andrew Brucher VFW Post 5499 will conduct Veterans Day services at Veterans Park at the Bethel town square on Route 55 in Kauneonga Lake. All veterans and the public are invited. Arrive by 10:45 a.m.
Eldred
11 a.m.—The Tusten-Highland-Lumberland VFW Post 6427 and the Sylvan-Liebla American Legion Post 1363 will hold a Veterans Day service at Heroes Park in Eldred, in honor of all veterans. Following the service, refreshments will be served, and the annual raffle drawing will be held.
Grahamsville
11 a.m.—The Grahamsville Rural Cemetery will host a flag-raising ceremony, followed by a ceremony at the Neversink Town Hall. Both are located on Route 55.
Kauneonga Lake
11 a.m.—Sgt. Andrew Brucher VFW Post 5499 will conduct Veterans Day services at Veterans Park (at the Bethel town square) on Route 55 in Kauneonga Lake. All veterans and the public are invited. Arrive by 10:45 a.m.
Long Eddy
11 a.m.—The Allan Milk Memorial VFW Post 7276 and Auxiliary will honor all who served with a luncheon, basket raffle, 50/50 and T-shirts, hosted at the Long Eddy Firehouse, 4 Church St.
Minisink Ford
2 p.m.—The Delaware Company will hold the Minisink History Hike, located at Minisink Battleground Park, 58 County Rd. 168, in recognition of Veterans Day.
Monticello
9 a.m.—The Landfield Avenue Synagogue, 18 Landfield Ave., invites all to attend Shabbat with the Sheriff (Mike Schiff). Services will be veteran-oriented, and you need not be Jewish to attend.
Summitville
9 a.m.—Summitville Firehouse, Route 209, will host a service conducted by the Edward M. Maier Memorial VFW Post 4947.
Honesdale
11 a.m.—American Legion Post 254 will hold a Veterans Day ceremony in Veterans Park.
Matamoras
10 a.m.—Pike County Area Agency on Aging will hold its annual Red White & Blue Thanksgiving luncheon, honoring veterans at the Lackawaxen/Shohola Township Center. There is no charge for veterans; others pay $3. Reservations are required. Call 570/775-5550.
Honesdale, PA
The Cooperage Project presents “Helmand to Honesdale: A Marine’s Journey” on Friday, November 10 at 7p.m. at 1030 Main St. In 2009, armed with a machine gun, George Geddis went to Afghanistan. He fought a guerrilla war against the Taliban on their home turf, and now he’ll discuss his experience in the Graveyard of Empires.

Spaghetti and meatballs dinner at the Liberty Elks Lodge 1545 on Saturday, November 11 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The lodge is located on Darbee Lane. Veterans eat free; for all others, the cost is $10.
Lackawaxen, PA

Settlers Inn will offer a complimentary overnight stay on Sunday, November 12 for veterans at the Settlers Inn, Ledges Hotel and Silver Birches, or at the Hotel Anthracite in Carbondale. A fireside chat with Stan Pratt will be held, there will be a photo exhibit in the undercroft, plus wine and cheese at 4:30 p.m. Reservations required for overnight visit.
