FALLSBURG, NY — The Town of Fallsburg has been awarded a grant of over $74,000 from the Local Government Records Management Improvement Fund (LGRMIF), administered by the New York State Archives.
The LGRMIF is a competitive program that provides grants to local governments, aiming to assist in the establishment or enhancement of records management programs.
The Town of Fallsburg’s successful application demonstrated the urgent need to convert its existing records into digital format to ensure long-term preservation, accessibility and efficiency. The grant will be utilized to develop and implement a comprehensive records management program, including the conversion of vital records into digital records.
The conversion of records into digital format is a crucial step towards improving records management practices in the Town of Fallsburg, wrote deputy supervisor Dr. Sean Wall-Carty in a press release. Digital records will help with enhanced searchability, reduced physical storage requirements and increased security measures.
The Town of Fallsburg is honored to be among the recipients of this prestigious grant and looks forward to implementing the necessary work, Wall-Carty wrote.
