CALLICOON, NY — A public town hall has been scheduled to discuss progress on the Callicoon Train Depot project.
Tim Bruno, general manager of WJFF Radio Catskill, will facilitate the meeting, to be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 16, at the Delaware Youth Center, 8 Creamery Road, in Callicoon, NY.
The project aims to transform the historic Callicoon Train Depot into a dynamic community asset. The town hall will share with community members the project’s history and plans. Participants can help shape the depot’s future by providing insights directly to the project team.
The project partners say they want to create a space not only to house the Upper Delaware Scenic Byway Visitor Center, but also to promote the region and serve as “a community hub for cultural, artistic, civic and educational activities, all while fostering a sense of community and regional pride.”
A panel of project partners will give their expert insights and answer questions; they include:
The community will also meet the members of the depot’s new board of directors. “Your presence and input will be instrumental in steering the course of the Callicoon Train Depot Visitor Center,” says the project team in its invitation to the public.
They continued: “Tim stepped up immediately when he heard that we were planning another event, and in recognition of both the project’s importance to our community and the Callicoon Business Association’s significant contributions in Callicoon, the Youth Center Board has once again generously offered the venue for this important community meeting at no cost.” This type of support underscores the inclusive and community-minded spirit that drives this all-volunteer project. The project partners are actively fostering collaboration with the greater community to help create a vibrant and thriving destination that will benefit generations to come.”
The depot is located at 40 Lower Main Street, Callicoon. For more information, visit thecallicoondepot.org.
