Timothy E. Dowling, age 52 of Damascus, PA passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, February 21, 2024. Beloved husband of Lisa (Gillespie) for 27 years and loving father to Kate and Meghan. An unimaginable loss for all his family and friends.
Tim was born on February 2, 1972 in Glenville, NY, the son of Mary (Jarcynski) and Thomas Dowling and brother to Thomas and Stephen, all of whom have predeceased him. The third of four siblings, Tim was a social beacon and a sensitive soul who put family first.
Tim was a 1990 graduate of Burnt Hills Ballston Lake High School and King’s College, class of 1994. It was at King’s that he met the love of his life, Lisa. He was easy with a laugh, enjoyed brainstorming on renovations and building projects, and would lend a hand or piece of equipment to anyone. Always surrounded by his canine companions, Tim was an outdoorsman who was most comfortable in nature.
His best times were spent watching his children work for their successes, in both academics, sports, and life—proud when they won and lost; it never mattered to him. Just to be part of their life was his reward. His moral compass, work ethic and dedication to family served as a role model for his girls.
Tim began his career on the Tepco pipeline, but it was his admission to the New York State Police Academy that launched him into a fulfilling career. Tim spent most of his career as an investigator in Troop F in Liberty, NY. Following his retirement, he served Sullivan County as an investigator in the District Attorney’s office.
He will be remembered for his kind spirit, the way he made everyone feel loved and important in his presence, and the twinkle in his eye as he shared a laugh or story.
