‘The Wizard of Oz’ at Liberty High School

LIBERTY, NY — Liberty Performing Arts will present “The Wizard of Oz” at 6 p.m. on Friday, November 3, and at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 4 in the David E. Panebaker Auditorium in the high school.

The cast includes high school and elementary school students. 

After being swept by a tornado from Kansas to a new land, Dorothy (Jayla Edwards) meets new friends Scarecrow (Jacob Kelly), Tin Man (Nathan  Desrochers) and Lion (Rayanna Cottman). Dorothy is guided by Glinda the Good Witch (Julia Juron) as she fights the Wicked Witch of the West (Yamilot Lopez Cortez), and searches for the all-powerful and mysterious Wizard of Oz (Joshua Kratz) to help her get home.

Waiting for Dorothy at home are Hunk (Jacob Kelly), Hickory (Nathan Desrochers) and Zeke (Rayanna Cottman); Aunt Em (Jordan Hewlett) and Aunt Henny (Sophia Ferguson); and Miss  Gulch (Lianna Gissentaner), from whom Dorothy was escaping when the girl was caught up in the tornado.

In Oz, Dorothy also meets Prof. Marvel (Joaquin Isler Diaz), the Mayor of Munchkin City (Rachel Yaun), the Coroner (Sophia Ferguson), the Barrister (Shelby Clack), the General (Eli Desrochers), an Oz Guard (Madeline Kelly) and more.

Also performing are Rita Zheng, Kelsey Hopkins, Sebastian Yupanqui, Aiden Yaun, Shea-Leigh Kristiansen, Lia Guillerme, Elaina Ramirez, Christopher DiBartolo, Kelsey Hopkins, Lena  Lagattuta, Faith Thomas and Riley Santiago.

Playing Munchkins are Blake Beseth, Joshua Tejada, Joseph Geoghan, Kate Dworetsky, Viviana Frasier, Cora McConnell, Carilyce Perez, Ava Diehl, Ana Hernandez, Mirey’ah Steele,  Josslynn Letohic, Laurel Hook, Katelyn Vakso, Jewelacie Castro, Arabella Chaney, Henry Krum and Ardian Balidemaj.

In the ensemble are Shaleigh Santiago, Kiara Tavormina, Karrah Atkins, Tierney Meddaugh, Amaya Burton, Michael Davis, Lilith Lynker, Elisa Brust, Dean Harte, Arysta Murphy, Jordana Ratner, Elizabeth Klein, Jailyn Greaves, Parker Gissentaner, Mackenzie Beatty and Sydney Kehrer.

Tickets, which cost $10 plus a $1 fee, are now on sale at www.ticketsource.us/liberty-performing-arts. If seats are available, tickets will be sold at the door for $10. Children aged two and younger will be admitted free.
