ELDRED, NY — George Ross Mackenzie fourth-, fifth- and sixth-graders recently participated in a county-wide Fire Prevention Week poster contest. 

This year’s local winners were:

First place: Gavin Gass (sixth grade)

Second place: Mila Janeczko (sixth grade)

Third place: Isabella Vanseggen (fifth grade). 

Monetary prizes, sponsored by the Highland Lake, Lumberland and Yulan fire departments, were awarded on December 20. 

This year’s slogan was “Cooking Safety Starts With You.”
