CALLICOON, NY — Open Mic First Fridays continues at the Western Sullivan Public Library. Acclaimed poet Susan Deer Cloud will speak on Friday, August 2 at 6:15 p.m. at the Delaware Free Branch of the Western Sullivan Public Library; an open mic follows.
All performers and poets are welcome and invited to share a poem, song, story or other inspiration.
Deer Cloud is a mixed lineage Catskill Native from Livingston Manor. She left at age 17, lived away for many decades, and in April 2013 returned to the street where she was born.
The recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts Literature Fellowship and two New York State Foundation for the Arts Poetry Fellowships, her writing has been published in numerous journals and anthologies. Her most recent books are “Hunger Moon,” “Before Language” and “The Way to Rainbow Mountain.” She also has taught creative writing and literature at the college level.
The event is funded by the Statewide Community Regrant Program of the New York State Council on the Arts with support from the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature. It is administered by the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance.
The library is located at 45 Lower Main St.
