LOCH SHELDRAKE, NY — SUNY Sullivan will hold a 5K and a one-mile Fun Run/Walk through its scenic Loch Sheldrake campus on Sunday, October 29, at 10 a.m. 

Net proceeds from this event, including registration fees, will benefit the SUNY Sullivan Food Pantry, which supports students, staff and faculty experiencing food and financial insecurity.

The run/walk will be followed by an awards ceremony and reception. 

The event is part of the Sullivan 180 Empowering a Healthier Generation Program.

All are encouraged to bring donations to the food pantry. Items needed include canned and boxed foods, almond milk and other shelf-safe beverages, shampoo, body wash, toothpaste, baby wipes and more. 

 “Our Food Pantry has served as a lifeline for our students, faculty and staff,” said Associate Dean of Student Engagement and Food Pantry Coordinator Debra Waller-Frederick. “Since the opening of the pantry in fall of 2021, we have doubled the number of SUNY Sullivan community members we serve. All financial donations to the pantry are applied directly to purchasing shelf stable, frozen and fresh food.”

The registration fee is $25 for SUNY Sullivan alumni, SUNY Sullivan faculty and staff, and youth aged five to 16. Children from birth to age five and current SUNY Sullivan students can register for free. All other adults can register for $30. 

Registration for the race and run/walk is currently open at raceroster.com/events/2023/73283/suny-sullivan-5k-run-and-1-mile-fun-runwalk. In-person registration will also be available on the day of the event, starting at 9 a.m.
