And there's plenty to do

And just like that, school is officially out for the summer! Let the long days begin.

Our kids are in numerous camps and activities locally this summer, and they are very excited to take the much-needed break from school.

There are many activities that are happening in and about our community in the upcoming weeks. Here are a few below:

Looking for something to do on the Fourth of July? Narrowsburg will be the place to be with their annual fun day at Fireman’s Field from 3:30 p.m. to  8 p.m. Food, carnival games, rides, entertainment and more! Last year was a huge success. Sponsors are still wanted.

The Jeffersonville Presbyterian Church is having a penny social on Saturday, July 29. Doors open at 10:30 a.m. and calling is at 12:30 p.m. Admission costs $1 and includes a drink and dessert. Refreshments will be available for purchase. Contact 570/903-7079 with any questions.

Hector’s Inn ninth annual Car Show takes place on Saturday, July 29 at 12 noon. All vehicles are welcome. If it has wheels, bring it on in! There’s no judging of cars and no entry fee. Just people with the same interests as you, here to share their cars and stories. No car? No worries! Stop by to check out the vehicles and vendors, and listen to the music. Food will be available. Free admission.

2023 Bowhunter Youth Camp will take place on July 8 and 9 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The camp is open to all youths aged 11 to 16 years who live in DEC Region 3, which includes Sullivan County. Space is limited and the deadline for applications is Friday, June 30. For more information call 845/794-6752 or email bowbender@hvc.rr.com.

The 25th annual Delaware Youth Center 5K/10K River Run & Walk is scheduled for Sunday, July 16. Not only does the race lead you along the gorgeous Delaware River that lends the youth center its name, but it's also our center's biggest fundraiser. By signing up, you're literally running to help us! Get your race packet and register in person on Saturday, July 15 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday July 16 from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. Find the sign-up information at raceroster.com.

Or sponsor the race! Go to delawareyouthcenter.org..

If you have a local business that you would like to have spotlighted in an upcoming column, get in touch. Email jenn@jennpowelldesigns.com with any news, events and happenings.
