BARRYVILLE, NY — The Upper Delaware Scenic Byway (UDSB) will host a “scaled back” ShadShindig event on Saturday, May 18 to celebrate its recent Partnership Award from the National Scenic Byway Foundation.

The UDSB received the Partnership Award for the Festival of the Founding Fish: Upper Delaware ShadFest, which has been held for the past two years in communities along the Upper Delaware Scenic Byway. The award ceremony took place during the Colorado Byways Symposium at Adams State University in Alamosa, CO, where John Pizzolato, Town of Highland supervisor and program manager for the UDSB, accepted the award.

The symposium included visits to various scenic locations in and around Alamosa. It covered topics such as viewsheds along scenic byways, byway interpretation and leveraging national and regional tourism. The 2022 ShadFest featured events in multiple towns along the UDSB, including concerts, readings and a donation of airline tickets to Reykjavik, Iceland.

This year’s ShadShindig will be a one-day event in Barryville. Daytime events will be held at the Barryville Farmers’ Market, and will include  corn hole games and presentations. Evening festivities at River’s Edge will feature singer Miho Hatori, formerly of Cibo Matto and The Gorillaz.
