SOUTH FALLSBURG, NY — Rolling V began its 34th school year with an investment of over $2 million in new equipment. As part of the Rolling V annual fleet upgrade program, the company acquired nine International gasoline-powered school buses, two high-capacity wheelchair lift-equipped International buses and six Microbird gasoline-powered school vans. The vehicles were purchased from local, family-owned dealerships in Hudson Valley and the Catskills, and will be deployed in several of the school districts served by Rolling V. 

While there is lots of conversation regarding electric school buses, Rolling V is waiting for the technology to mature and an equitable funding mechanism put in place before acquiring the equipment. In the meantime, the new buses are low-emission and an economic alternative to electric-powered buses, according to the company. All buses are equipped with Child Check-Mate systems and updated GPS systems. 

In addition to the fleet upgrades, Rolling V continues to provide free CDL training and employee opportunities for qualified applicants in the region, the company said.

ALBANY, NY — New York Gov. Kathy Hochul recently announced the New York State Electric School Bus Roadmap and the Electric School Bus Guidebook, intended to help New York preK-12 schools transition bus fleets to zero-emission. These new resources provide school districts and bus operators with the technical and financial assistance necessary to remove fossil fuel vehicles from service and help reduce transportation emissions. The resources focus on disadvantaged communities and high-need school districts.
