30 EMT candidates complete training in Sullivan

MONTICELLO, NY — In early June, nearly 30 emergency medical technician (EMT) candidates completed more than 180 hours of training and took their practical exams.

SUNY Sullivan, Sullivan County BOCES, and the county government set out to meet the area’s critical demand for EMTs. They brought training to locations around the county, including to the SUNY Sullivan campus, the Ellenville Rescue Squad, and the Sullivan County Emergency Services Training Center.

The graduates are invited to take the NYS EMT written exam. Some have already passed and are seeking employment or volunteer opportunities with local EMS organizations.

SUNY Sullivan’s sponsorship has been instrumental in training EMTs close to home. BOCES offers the course to high school students. Both institutions, alongside the county, plan to offer the course again in the fall.

The next course is scheduled to begin on August 20 at SUNY Sullivan.
