MONTICELLO, NY and WHITE LAKE, NY — The Sullivan County Chamber Orchestra (SCCO) will perform its Fall Season Opener on Saturday, September 14 at 7 p.m. at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 15 St. John St. Monticello and on Sunday, September 15 at 3 p.m. at the Reformed Presbyterian Church, 6 Mattison Rd., White Lake.

Tickets cost $25 and will be available at the door. To reserve visit https://linktr.ee/nesinculturalarts. For any questions, call 845/798-9006 or email contact@nesinculturalarts.org. Follow them on social media @nesinculturalarts and @sccoplayers.

The eclectic program includes works by Ottorino Respighi, Gustav Holst, Anton Arensky and Frank Bridge. SCCO artistic director Andrew Trombley said, “The program will begin with the third suite of “Ancient Airs and Dances” by Respighi, who at the time of this composition was inspired by ancient lute music. Holst is best known for his massive composition, “The Planets.” He composed the St. Paul Suite for the St. Paul School for Girls’ student orchestra. Arensky found heavy inspiration from Tchaikovsky. When the latter died, Arensky borrowed the theme from the song “Legend” as a tribute to the late composer. The program will end with Bridge’s “Suite for Strings”. The suite was composed before the world experienced the first great war and shows a lighter and optimistic style of composition from the pacifist Bridge.”

SCCO is a Nesin Cultural Arts-supported project. Programs are made possible in part by funding from the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Gov. Kathleen Hochul and the NY State Legislature, Episcopal Charities, St. John’s Episcopal Church, Cornelia T. Bailey Foundation, Laura Jane Musser Fund, Sullivan County Legislature, Sullivan County Youth Bureau, M&T Bank Charitable Foundation, Delaware Valley Arts Alliance, NY Life Foundation, Walmart Community Foundation and Stewart’s Shops.
