‘River Seasons’—A call for art

WAYNE COUNTY, PA — Just as one season slowly transforms and evolves into another, the river, always in motion, changes itself with every twist and turn. It is in the spirit of nature, change and passing time that the Creative Communities Art Trails Project is seeking artwork for its future park in Equinunk.

Artists living, working or enamored with the area in and around Equinunk are invited to submit up to 10 pieces of original, durable, outdoor, public-facing artwork to be displayed in a brand new, specially built art park located on the grounds of the Equinunk Historical Society.

Artwork will be displayed on pedestals and in niches within the park. Artwork on pedestals will be secured onto a 16-inch-by16-inch base. Artwork in niches must fit within 16 inches wide by 16 inches deep by 24 inches tall. All work must be able to be mounted to its display location.  Up to a total of 10 artworks will be selected for display.

Submissions can be in the form of photos of completed works, sketches of bespoke pieces or detailed concepts that can be installed on site. More than one piece might be chosen from each artist selected.

The deadline to submit is Thursday, August 1, and selected artists will be notified by August 15. Selected pieces must be delivered to the Calder House in Equinunk by Saturday, August 31.

Email all submissions to waynecountyartsalliance@gmail.com with “River Seasons” in the subject line. Include your name, phone number, email address, your pieces’ dimensions and the materials you plan to use. Note that all work will be displayed outdoors.

Consideration will be made for conceptual pieces made of natural materials that age and weather with the changing seasons.

Art will be displayed on a rotating basis, as per the discretion of the Equinunk Design Committee, and this first exhibit will run at least one year.
